Remote

From anywhere, for a little less. All you need is steady internet and a device with a camera and mic.

Home visits

An option too. A travel fee is added based on distance, and availability depends on scheduling, so just ask.

Studio policies

These policies protect my small business, but in practice I’m often more flexible. If something comes up, just talk to me.

Payment

Trial lesson: your first lesson is half off, with no commitment.
Ways to pay: per lesson, or prepay a bundle of lessons and save. Cash or check.
Your weekly time: prepaying keeps it reserved. Otherwise, holding it is at my discretion.
Nothing else is ever owed. No contract, no late fees.
If you stop, prepaid lessons aren’t refunded, but you can use them within 3 months.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Give 24 hours’ notice and your lesson will be rescheduled.
Arrange the new time within that same week, or the lesson is forfeited. It can take place that week or later.
Late cancellations and no-shows aren’t guaranteed a reschedule. I often offer one anyway.
If I cancel, I’ll work with you to reschedule. If that doesn’t work, I’ll refund it.
I may end lessons at any time, and any paid lessons not yet taken are refunded.

Good to know

Holidays: no lessons when I’m closed. Prepaid lessons pick up the next week.
Bad weather or feeling sick: switch to remote instead of cancelling.
Practice: a weekly plan from me.
Recommended daily practice

Minutes per day, 5 or 6 days a week

Ages 5–710–15 min
Ages 8–1020–30 min
Ages 11–1330–45 min
14 and up45–90+ min

Based on typical attention spans, and assumes the goal is to make the most progress. Every student and family has different goals and lifestyles, so we’ll find what works for you.

Practice tips
- Keep a steady schedule. Practice at the same time each day, like right after school or before dinner.
- Take breaks. For longer sessions, take a short break every so often.
- Break practice into focused blocks. Give each part its own time, like warm-ups, technique, then pieces.
- Warm up first, and finish with something fun.
- Go slow to get fast. Play it right slowly before speeding up.
- Keep a practice journal. Track the day, how long you practiced and what you worked on. Decide what you’ll work on before you start.
Materials: students usually buy their own lesson books (I’ll recommend them).
Home visits are subject to a quoted rate and policy.
Under 18: a parent or guardian signs the agreement. Under 12, an adult is present for every lesson.
